Which Altnet

Which full-fibre altnets build in your town?

Free, independent. We show which full-fibre altnets list your town, with Ofcom coverage figures. Then check your exact address with the provider.

How Which Altnet works

Two kinds of evidence, kept separate: Ofcom area figures, and what each altnet publishes about the towns it builds in. We never merge them into “you can get X at your address.”

  1. 01

    Find your town

Search by town name or postcode. Matching happens in your browser — we do not store what you type.

  2. 02

    See who lists it

We show altnets that name your town on their own coverage pages, with the date we checked and a link to the source.

  3. 03

    Check your address

Open each provider’s checker for a street-level answer. Ofcom’s free checker is always linked too.

UK altnet coverage guides

Read what each provider publishes about where it builds, which of our town pages list it, and how to check an exact address. Order is alphabetical — never by commission.

Full fibre altnets by town

Use the finder or browse the A–Z. Verified provider listings appear on a town page only when dated sources pass our quality gate. Finder matches stay in your browser. Ofcom data: January 2026 snapshot (published May 2026).

Full fibre vs gigabit-capable

Ofcom reports both measures in Connected Nations. Full fibre means a fibre connection to the premises. Gigabit-capable covers technologies that can reach gigabit speeds, which is a wider set. On town pages we show local-authority full-fibre and gigabit percentages with counts where Ofcom publishes them, and we label postcode-district roll-ups as unweighted medians. Why we can’t check your address

Ofcom open data does not name providers at your door. At postcode level it publishes gigabit-capable figures, not a full-fibre percentage named by ISP. Which altnet lists a town comes only from that provider’s own published pages. Street-level availability needs each provider’s checker — we hand you straight to it, and we keep Ofcom’s free checker in the path.

Frequently asked questions

What is an altnet?
In UK broadband, an “altnet” usually means an alternative network builder — a full-fibre provider that is not the Openreach wholesale network. Which Altnet focuses on retail altnets that publish town or build lists you can check yourself.
Can you tell me if full fibre is available at my address?
No. We do not run an address-level checker. Ofcom’s open data does not name providers at your door, and we do not invent street-level availability. We show which altnets list your town on their own pages, then send you to each provider’s checker — and to Ofcom’s free checker — for an exact-address answer.
Where do your figures come from?
Area coverage percentages come from Ofcom Connected Nations (we cite the snapshot date on every page that uses them). Which altnet lists a town comes only from that provider’s own published coverage or build pages, with a “checked on” date and a link to the source.
What is the difference between full fibre and gigabit-capable?
Ofcom reports both. Full fibre means a fibre connection to the premises. Gigabit-capable includes technologies that can deliver gigabit speeds, not only full fibre. Town pages keep the two measures separate and labelled.
Do you rank providers by commission?
No. On a town page, listed providers are ordered by published coverage evidence and then alphabetically. Commission never changes which providers appear or their order. Free routes, including Ofcom’s checker and non-commission provider checkers, stay visible.
Do you store the town or postcode I type?
No. The town finder runs in your browser against a local index. We do not store or log the towns or postcodes you type on our servers.
